Indian tribes hire Abramoff, then give to Reid

At least four American Indian tribes began giving money to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid only after they hired lobbyist Jack Abramoff, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Friday. "I've said that I received money from Indians in the past and will continue to do so," said Reid.
Reid has been accused of taking over $50,000 in bribes from Abramoff-represented tribes between 2001 and 2004. "Harry Reid's ties to Jack Abramoff are too substantial for him to dismiss with Washington, D.C., denial and hypocritical accusations," said Republican spokesman Tucker Bounds.
The liberal American Prospect published a "study" in their January 27 issue which said that, while Democrats also took donations from Abramoff-represented Indian tribes, it likely had "little impact" on the way they conducted business, but Republicans were heavily influenced by the same money.
