The column "Lifting the Veil on Islamist Hate," posted last Tuesday and which can be viewed here, received this comment from the blogger "Sakib":
"Wow, you show absolutely no understand ing of people with perspectives other than yours. I cannot believe you were accept to a university, much less UGA. The reaction to the cartoons has been so harsh because the cartoons were met without condemnation from "reasonable" people within the European Union governmental
structure. The EU has, through its silence and dedication to avoid condemnation with half statements and non-committals, shown itself to be a biggotted entity with no compassion for non-Christians or non-Europeans. That the EU maintains such a strong allegiance with the radical and terrorizing elements within it (I'm talking about white skinned people) shows that it has no dedication to civility or respect for a common humanity. Simply disgusting."
His comment has been left unaltered. A brief look at his weblog, "President Emeritus", revealed this entry, which helps to explain a good bit about his positions, and the reason he defends the murderous Islamists who are committing acts of terrorism around the world.
"An Iranian newspaper is holding a contest on "Holocaust Cartoons" to test the West's tolerance for free speech. Obviously, clever, well planned, and also offensive. Iran is proving itself as a land of civil libertarians. Someday, I need to make a list of Iran's greatest hits. This would rank up there, along with their response after 9/11, when the Iranian government condemned all terrorism, especially the Zionist plots to bring down the World Trade Center. Iran pledged to help the US in any way possible to strike back at Israel for 9/11. CLASSIC."
Such a post hardly deserves a comment, other than to point out that calling Iran "a land of civil libertarians" shows a depth of ignorance or willful blindness that cannot be explained by a rational mind. Perhaps Mr. Sakib would like to move to Iran and practice his beloved free speech there. It would be interesting indeed to see whether he lasts an entire week, or far less, doing so.
